Drawing in boxes and planes

I've been going to this life drawing class once a week for about 6 weeks now. There they teach you how to think about shapes in the language of boxes and planes, and it ends up looking like a wire frame 3D model. I hope it'll be rewarding for me in the future, and it's an interesting way to draw. I can't wait to start adding light and shadow!

"Polarius" - the polar bear

Funny... it seems like all of my characters are somewhat related to snow and ice.
Well, this is a character I am working out the design for. I started with some study sketches of polar bears, after realizing I couldn't draw them just straight out of my head. Then I moved over to stylizing the animal. My plan was to create the character in 3D and do a little short film, but fur is so hard to do in the computer. You hear all these things about how hard hair and fur are to create in the computer, and well, it's no lie. At the bottom you'll see some fur tests.

The story is that he lives in the desert. That's the reason for all the sand...

Blizzy - snowman character

This is a actually a character I just did a drawing of for my CSSSA animation application this year. I liked the character so I did a couple of drawings of him. This guy is always trying to mess with his neighborhood and the people there. Of course they never know it's him, because snowmen aren't alive... or are they...?

The first post

Thanks for visiting my blog, cause obviously you have if you are reading this. "REBOSSO" is just a name I often use for internet, email and online communication stuff. It's just a word I came up with which I thought sounded kind of cool, so that's why my blog is called Rebosso.

Here's a little collection of some of my artwork, some of it is digital, some is traditional. But you can probably tell what's what. What I usually do when I draw, is that I come up with an idea for a short film, or feature film, and then I just start doing "pre-production" artwork for that idea. So some of these things have a story behind them, others are just plain drawing stuff I've done.

What is hiding in the cave??
Yep, I love piano!
I don't know if you can see it, but it's a polar bear..Okay, this "Finding Nemo" one is obviously not my development or design, but it's something I did for fun in the basic Paint program every computer has. I looked at the original photo and tried to copy it as best as possible. I think I spent three days on it. No tablet!
